Watch a Drawing Machine Draw Drawing Machines Drawing [Video]

Machines that create art have caught people's imagination throughout history. So it's only natural that one day a machine would exist to draw those very machines. Friends, that day has come. More »

Blade-Tech tactical holster for… your iPhone!

Blade-Tech isn't your everyday, ordinary iPhone accessory maker. In fact, iPhones are usually the last thing you think of when you hear the name Blade-Tech. The first thing, obviously, is blades -- as in knives -- followed closely by guns. That's probably why Blade-Tech isn't selling a iPhone cable or even a case. Blade Tech is selling an iPhone holster.

Designer Fire Extinguishers Are a Property-Saving Fashion Accessory [Design]

It's ludicrous to think that someone wouldn't want a fire extinguisher in their home or office just because it clashed with the room's decor. But France's Fire Design eliminates all excuses for not putting safety first with its line of designer extinguishers. More »

DingleBerry 4.0 cancelled, open-sourced in search of PlayBook OS 2.0 root exploit

DingleBerry 4.0 cancelled, open-sourced in search of PlayBook OS 2.0 root exploit
DingleBerry arrived with an awesome name and even better functionality: the ability to root a BlackBerry PlayBook. For the moment, however, it seems the utility is little more than dust in the wind. We've received news that development of the famed exploit has been halted. If it's any solace to super users, the project may find new vigor, because the source code for DingleBerry 3.3.3 is now available for all to improve upon. Perhaps the cat and mouse game with RIM's security team was simply too burdensome for DingleBerry developers, as PlayBook OS 2.0 has remained impervious to root exploits. Whatever the case may be, if you'd like to take a swing at a new root method, be sure to hit up the source below.

[Thanks, Joao]

PureSound Technologies ClarityOne Earphones Review

All the earphones I have reviewed fall into two design philosophies: dynamic speaker (looks very much like a tiny speaker) and armature (the same technology used in professional hearing aids). There are advantages and disadvantages to both but the word “unique” seldom comes to mind with either type. I had been reading about the ClarityOne [...]

Shot Shot Pirate is a fun, simple physics game

shotshotpirate
Shot Shot Pirate is very satisfying, because each level is short and to the point. You know what you have to do and you just do it.

As you may have gathered from the name, you're cast in the role of a pirate. Your goal is to shoot at a diamond and make it fall off a tower of bricks. The height of the tower changes as you progress through the levels. It's not enough to just make the diamond fall off the tower of bricks - it has to fall below a certain line (drawn on the screen) for the level to be completed.

There are also different kinds of bricks, with some heavier than others, and different kinds of ammo. You only get a certain amount of ammo for each level, and when it's gone, you lose. But don't worry! If you don't make it on the first try, it's very easy to restart the level and just give it another shot (or three).

All in all it's a cute game. I've seen similar games with better graphics and music, but the game delivers on its main promise - a few minutes of pure time wasting!

Everything old is new again: NVIDIA rebrands Fermi-based GT 520 and 510 into 600-series

Everything new is old again: NVIDIA rebrands Fermi-based GT 520 and 510 into 600-series
NVIDIA may have trotted out a brand new beast, ripe with fresh Kepler architecture, but that doesn't mean it put Fermi to bed. Allow us to introduce you to the GT 520 and the GT 510, or as they now prefer to be called, the GeForce GT 620 and GeForce 605, respectively. These OEM GPUs have traded half of their memory and a few clock speed tweaks for OpenGL 4.2 support and a low-end position in the firm's new 600-series. Despite their very Kepler-esque numbering (and NVIDIA's website placing them in the same "product family" as the flagship GTX 680), Tom's Hardware says the firm's Bryan Del Rizzo confirmed the 605 and 620 are Fermi-based graphics cards. Then again, not all cousins share the same surname. File this under "extended family" and call it a day.
