What once was an oddity is now an unstoppable force. With five million units shipped to date, the Galaxy Note's enjoying its well-earned place at the center of Samsung's universe and the company's looking to spread the cheer. Hitting retail shelves across Canada today, the phablet responsible for the stylus's stylish comeback is getting a makeover for Canucks, offering consumers its 5.3-inch wares in a glossy, ceramic white. Anytone AT-400C CDMA Cellular Repeater Review

One of the downsides of living rural is the lack of cellular coverage, at least in my neighborhood as I’m lucky to get a signal on my T-Mobile phone and have a weak signal on my Verizon phone in my house.  The folks at MyAmplifiers.com think they may have the solution with their AnyTone AT-400C CDMA Cellular [...]

Terrafugia Transition aircraft first hands-on (video)

Image
People used to say that cars in the '50s and '60s had fins, giant wing-like protuberances that designers grafted on to capitalize on the fledgling concepts of aerodynamics. Your fist impression of the Terrafugia Transition is much the same as standing next to a 1959 Coupe de Ville -- it's huge, and the giant vertical stabilizers on the back have a distinctly Cadillac feel. This, however, is different. Sure, it too is made in the US, but it's crafted of carbon fiber, titanium and aluminum, costs $279,000 and seats only two. Oh, and did we mention it can fly? It's making its major auto show debut this week and we got a chance to check it out. Follow us after the break for some grounded impressions.

Sprint's LG Viper goes up for preorder April 12 for $99

LG Viper 4G LTE

Sprint's just given us the heads up that the LG Viper 4G LTE, with its 4-inch NOVA display, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 5MP camera and NFC radio (along with Google Wallet) will be up for pre-order starting April 12. The Viper, which we got a dark look at back at CES in January, admittedly won't set any hardware records. But the price is right -- $99 on contract, with $50 mail-in rebate. Sweetening the deal is 50GB of cloud storage from Box.

Sprint says full availability dates will be announced later this month.

Keen On… Beth Comstock: Why GE Might Be The World’s Oldest Start-Up [TCTV]

Screen Shot 2012-04-02 at 11.14.55 PMI have to confess that when I think about GE, the first thing that comes to mind isn't radical innovation. But, as usual, I might be wrong. As GE's Chief Marketing Officer, Beth Comstock, told me when we met at The Economist's stimulating Innovation event last week, GE is actually totally committed to creating radically new structures of organization. As what Comstock calls the "world's oldest start-up," the 130 year-old company has the scale, she says, to be both nimble and agile. Indeed, she even boasts of GE doing away with traditional organizational hierarchy in some of its many manufacturing businesses so that it can generate more innovation.

Facebook inks partnership with Opower, looks to socially compare home energy usage

Facebook oPower energy usage
Google passed, and Microsoft reckoned it had better things to do, but Zuckerberg's Castle is seemingly willing to pick up where those two left off. In what may go down as the strangest Facebook decision since the rejection of Valentina Monetta's video as best in the whole wide world, the company is launching a new social energy app that'll tap into technology from the National Resources Defense Council and Opower. Initially, the app will reach some 20 million households, and it's designed to help eco-curious Earthlings compile and benchmark usage data to see how their home stacks up against others. Within territories with utility participation, people can connect their utility account directly to the app to track progress and share energy saving accomplishments with friends. Unfortunately, the whole process looks rather manual for now, and privacy overlords will no doubt question the motives for requesting even more information from Facebook users; that said, it's totally possible to engage in the Opower tracking sans a Facebook account. To get going, give those source links a look.
