Sony's 4K Home Projector Eyes-On: You Probably Can't Tell the Difference Between This and a Theater Projector [Video]

Sony's 4K projector was first announced last year, but they have the thing on display at CES this year. After getting to zone out in a pitch black room where the projector blasted the new Spider Man trailer at full resolution on a 182-inch screen, I'm sold on the idea. More »

HomePlug Alliance AV2 specification promises gigabit class networking over electrical wires

It's been a long time coming, but the Homeplug Powerline Alliance is introducing a new class of home networking technology known as AV2, which is meant to better facilitate HD content transmission over electrical wiring. With MIMO functionality (multiple-input and multiple-output) at its core, the new specification features gigabit class speeds and comes from a decade of field tests. What's more, the new standard promises to bring greater in-home coverage beyond WiFi capabilities while maintaining compatibility with existing HomePlug AV / IEEE 1901 products. Whether consumers are willing to embrace yet another new specification from the HomePlug group remains to be seen, although we can imagine a few Netflix junkies will be downright giddy. For the complete deets, the PR follows the break.

Viewsonic goes cloudy, touchy and 3D with a trio of new displays

New displays? ViewSonic's got 'em. Take, for example, the TD2220, an LED monitor that features two-point touch interaction, two USB ports, a two-watt speaker and a 360-degree swiveling screen. Then there's the TDi2340, a so-called "anchor for cloud computing devices," a display that connects wirelessly to tablets, smartphones and notebooks, serving as an extended desktop. The 23-incher features a touch interface and sports an ARM11 processor inside. The 27-inch V3D271 is an active 3D display with 1920 x 1080 resolution. It features dual two-watt speakers and ships with a pair of NVIDIA glasses for that whole three-dimensional thing. No word on pricing, but the three models should ship in Q2.

Pastebin updated to V3, releases Windows app

pastebin
Pastebin is a very popular website aimed at coders and other nerdy types, which allows them (or should I say, us) to paste and share snippets of code with lovely syntax highlighting.

It has recently undergone a major overhaul which includes the release of a brand new Windows client. The new client lets you create new "pastes" and manage your existing ones. It joins a host of other tools from Pastebin, such as the Google and Chrome extensions, OS X widget and the mobile apps.

If you're currently using Pastebin, the new client is a great addition. And if you haven't tried it before, next time you have a piece of code you want to share or get some feedback on, you could do worse than try out Pastebin.

[Thanks, Jeroen!]
