How To Create An Early-Stage Pitch Deck For Investors

ryan_dogpatch_reasonably_smallThis is a guest post by Ryan Spoon (@ryanspoon), a principal at Polaris Ventures. Read more about Ryan on his blog at ryanspoon.com. When raising capital, a combination of your company's product, vision, team and execution are what ultimately attract investment. And while the pitch deck is ultimately less important than vision and product, it exists to convey both elements and consequently get investors hungry for more. Like other investors, I come across 100's of pitches each month - some in person, others in email; some as PowerPoints, and others as full-fledged business plans. Your goal is to craft a deck that is both:

Lenovo LePad K2010 (IdeaTab K2) hands-on: Tegra 3, full HD IPS display

Remember our lovely leak of Lenovo's Tegra 3 tablet from last November? Well, it showed up here at CES under the LePad K2010 moniker for China, while elsewhere it'll likely be known as the IdeaTab K2. We won't comment much on the unfinished software (so no luck with controlling the cursor using the fingerprint scanner on the back), but build quality wise we enjoyed the faux brushed metal cover on the back, and similarly, the sharp 1,920 x 1,200 IPS display between the speakers was very impressive (yes, we double-checked with Lenovo on these numbers).

We also received confirmation that the camera on the back has an eight-megapixel resolution, but obviously we'll wait and see if the picture quality lives up to expectation. Alas, there's still no word on availability, but regardless, China will get first dibs on this juicy quad-core slate. On the bright side, this should give ample time for potential buyers to save up -- the K2010 is aimed at high-end business users, after all. Hands-on video after the break.

Another look at a white Sprint Epic 4G Touch, will ship with version EK02

White Sprint Epic 4G Touch

Here's another nice look at the Sprint Epic 4G Touch in white thanks to a couple of insiders, and this one shows us the software these white beauties will be shipping with.  If anyone was still holding on to the idea that we'd see a new version of the software (possibly one of the recent leaked builds, I don't think anyone expected Ice Cream Sandwich just yet), I'm the bearer of bad news.  The white version ships with the same EK02 build that went out OTA last month.  The good news is that the Hardware version isn't new, so at least there's not an oddball version floating around when this one lands Sunday.

There's a screenshot from the about screen minus the reflections after the break, and a handful of shots showing off how hawt the white E4GT looks.  Thanks to the ninjas for sending these in, and thanks to everyone on Google+ who helped verify the numbers.

Windows Phone Marketplace now accepting app submissions for China, five other countries

It wasn't long ago that the Windows Phone Marketplace hit 50,000 unique titles, and very soon, developers may find themselves with a whole lot more exposure. Microsoft's virtual store is expanding once again -- this time to Argentina, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Peru and the Philippines. While it's not yet live in these countries, proactive developers may submit their apps now to benefit from early certification. Practically speaking, this also enables Microsoft to have its "shelves" fully stocked come opening day. So, unless you're an odd duck who doesn't like more money, the time seems ripe to get those apps submitted.
